2050 net zero emission is the global consensus. Upon facing the “new” future, it is urgent to develop and apply novel technology with creativities and strategtic plans to mitigate climate change. Taiwan government set “2050 Net Zero” as the national vision, and has announced 12 key net-zero policies as the national development priorities. According to statistical data from Environmental Protection Administration of Taiwan, the main industries which emissions most of greenhouse gases in the country are steel industry, cement industry, petrochemical industry, and semiconductor & electronics industries. On the other hand, the new era of chemical engineering aims to solve the problems in the most of the aforementioned fields and even extended to the process of biotechnology, food and environmental engineering. Full of potential and motivation, the Process Net Zero Research Center is accordingly proposed to focus on net zero emissions at Taiwan Tech. The most important topics of the Process Net Zero Research Center include:

1. Carbon footprint verification and management;
2. Carbon capture and reused technology;
3. Energy saving and process strengthening;
4. Process waste reduction and recycling.

The establishment Taiwan Tech Process Net Zero Research Center is expected to attract great number of international R&D talents from different countries.

Morover, the short, mid-term, and long term milestones are planned in terms of 7 promoting strategies to reach the goals: (1) To established the R & D base in order to effectively promote and integrate the liasons between industries and university; (2) To cultivate high-level talents focused on the topics of “net zero”; (3) To strength the academic research and industrial servies; (4) To refine net zero practical processes for the services toward industry; (5) To communicate and cooperate with international academic institutions; (6) To further extend impacts of the Process Net Zero Research Center toward industy and society; (7) To implement the development of Process Net Zero Research Center with sustainability and perspectives.

Our Process Net Zero Research Center will recruit high talented members to cowork on promoting the net zero activities, to assist the developments of industries, and to strengthen cooperation with international communities. Ultimately, the Process Net Zero Research Center assist the young generataion to be educated with the mind-set of “Net zero”, transform the industries to be sustanaibly functioning, and accelerate the international coopoeraton amoing industries and acadmic parties. With this, Process Net Zero Research Center would reach the scale and performance of the targeted benchmark center.
